RYDE suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Lymington in Hampshire County Division 1 on Saturday.

In fact, they collectively could only muster the same amount of runs as one Lymington player, Tom Atkins, in a disappointing display.

With conditions favouring the batsmen, Lymington won the toss and batted first. A couple of early wickets gave Ryde hope but a solid knock from Tom Atkins of 137 helped the visitors to a very impressive 309-8 off their 50 overs.

Ryde started well with the bat but, as in previous weeks, wickets fell too frequently and the run chase never got going. They were finally bowled out for 137 in just 31 overs.
