TWO new members have been elected to Dartford Borough Council.
The by-elections followed the death of Councillor Len Eaton and the resignation of Councillor Malcolm Lothard. Tony Martin, standing for the Conservatives, was elected councillor for Sutton-at-Hone and Hawley ward, with 617 votes, beating Steven de Winton (Labour) with 533 votes.
Matthew James Bryant, standing for the Labour Party, was elected councillor for Joyce Green ward, with 375 votes, beating Shirley Burton (Conservative) with 77 votes, and Mark Croucher (UK Independence Party) with 59 votes.
A parish council by-election was held at Sutton-at-Hone and Hawley Parish Council, with Murdo Macleod elected as a Conservative councillor for Hawley ward with 219 votes.
