Briggs on song at Twenty20 finals

Danny Briggs.

CRICKETBOWLER Danny Briggs put in a man-of-the-match winning performance for Hampshire as his side won a dramatic Friends Provident Twenty20 Cup final last weekend.

In the semi-final against Essex, the former Ventnor spinner, 19, took 3-29 to win the man of the match prize, which was presented live on Sky Sports.

He then took the wicket of Peter Trego in the final against Somerset, as Hampshire went on to tie the match — but win on least wickets lost.

Darren Gough is making a star appearance for the Lashings World XI side which takes on Ventnor this weekend.

This year’s match takes place at Newclose County Cricket Ground, from 2.30pm on Sunday, and tickets are available on the gate.

Joining Gough are the likes of England’s Devon Malcolm and Phil DeFreitas, Pakistan’s Rashid Latif and Australian Ian Harvey.
