Cricket: Ventnor hold Sarisbury to draw

VENTNOR battled to a draw against Sarisbury Athletic in the Southern Electric Premier Division yesterday (Saturday), earning 16 more points in their quest to move off the bottom.

The side made 236, and in reply held their rivals to 213-9.
In the Hampshire Cricket League, Ventnor II took on Sarisbury's second team, and lost by 44 runs. Chasing 272 to win, Ventnor II were bowled out for 227. Ryde's game against Hayling Island did not go ahead.
However, Ryde's second team enjoyed success in County Division 4 against Portsmouth and Southsea II. The mainlanders made 206-8, three runs shy of Ryde II's 209-6.
Shanklin's unbeaten streak in Regional South East Division 3 extended to ten games with a win over Bedhampton in a low scoring game. Skittling Bedhampton for 113, Shanklin passed the total with six wickets in hand.
Ventnor III's game against Portchester III was a no result.
