CRICKET NPOWER moved to the top of the IW County Press Corporate Twenty20 League after defeating Lighthouse Medical by 35 runs.

Victory for Npower guaranteed their place in finals day on August 26 and meant they top the seven-team league on 17 points.

Npower’s second wicket pair, Sam Richards (68) and Gareth Bricknell (29), were the major contributors to a 18-over total of 146 for five wickets, three of which were taken by Josh Franklin.

In reply, Lighthouse Medical started badly, losing their first three wickets for just five runs, with three falling to the bowling of Murray Jones in his first over.

Lighthouse finished on 111 for five off 20 overs.

Last Friday evening, a depleted Moreys lost to IW Health Associates by five wickets.

Last year’s tournament winners, Moreys, batted first and scored 155 for three off their 20 overs, with opening batsman and captain, Graham Gregory, leading the way with 57, ably supported by Ben Duggan (68 not out).

IW Health Associates reached their target with the loss of five wickets off 18.2 overs, with Andrew White (61 not out) and James Tibbett (30 not out) turning the game their way.

Moreys remain second in the table with five matches remaining.
