CRICKET: OVER 45s LEAGUEMAJORS enjoyed a good win in week two of the Harwoods Over-45s League, with all six players hitting double figures with the bat.
Murray Jones led the way with 28 not out, as Majors posted an impressive 152-4. Hurricanes, in reply, never really threatened and finished on 89-4. Steve Priddle took 2-20.
Tweakers showed their championship potential against the Fighting Cocks, hitting 146-5, with Richard Christensen (30 not out) and Dominic Hillyard (39) leading the charge.
Jimmy Winter led the reply with a spirited 41 not out after retiring with an eye injury at one point, but their final score of 106-5 fell well short.
Chris Williams, with 2-30, was main wicket taker.
In the final match, Bandits smashed their way to 182-4 (Dave Stocking 63 not out and Paul Biddlecombe 54 not out) against Warriors.
Pete Conway and Mike Watson both took two wickets for Warriors, and it was Watson’s 36 not out which kept his team’s reply ticking over.
However the target was too big and they ended on 96-4.
