CRICKETONE OF India’s leading female cricket coaches has been furthering her education on the Island.
Deepali Rokade, known as Deeps, has been attending the UK Cricket Coaching Level 2 course at the IW Cricket Academy at Ventnor, under the tuition of academy chief Mervyn Jones and Kev Winchcombe.
Jones, who is one of the country’s top teachers of other cricket coaches, said: "It has been a pleasure working with Deeps. She is eager to absorb as much knowledge as possible.
"She will be attending for the full four weeks of the course, in order to obtain world-wide coaching exposure and qualifications."
Deeps, who has a diploma in sports coaching with cricket as her speciality, works as a sports officer in Maharashtra.
She has played at international level and been head coach to coached India’s under-16 team.
She said: "My aim is to coach more at international level, and successfully completing this course at Ventnor will be a big help in achieving this goal."
