IT'S one of the most unusual spectacles of the year, but one bound to bring about fits of laughter.
The Brambles Cricket Match is played in the middle of The Solent on the Bramble Bank sandbank, between the Island Sailing Club and arch rivals the Royal Southern Yacht Club.
Heading out from Cowes and Southampton, the two teams converge on The Brambles dressed in cricket whites and ready for a fiercely competitive game — which they take turns to win each year.
This year saw a tug of war between four Royal Navy veteran teams and a post box for people to submit postcards to friends directly from the event.
