INDOOR CRICKETTHE fixtures may have been disrupted but the recent snowy weather had no impact on the form book when the Harwoods Renault Indoor League resumed last Sunday, every match in both divisions won by the favourites.
In Division 1 at Fairway Sports Complex, league leaders Ventnor claimed the points from reigning champions Niton.
A poor start left Ventnor in trouble at 46-4 until an unbeaten 37 from Rob Snell saw them recover to 112-5, before bowling out Niton for 81 (Guy Wells 29).
Newport maintained their championship hopes, posting 152-4 (Harry Dye 33 not out, Stuart Gurney 29 not out) on their way to a crushing win over Ryde Cavaliers, who could only muster 88 in reply.
GKN, with their score of 136-2 (Darren Ringer 33no, Steve Ebbs 26 not out), eased their relegation worries with a straight-forward win over Ryde Cavaliers II.
They never recovered from losing three early wickets and were out for just 71.
St Helens completed the set of one-sided results, posting 142-4 (Craddick 50 not out, Marc Allen 25 not out) against Ryde who were never in the chase, ending their 12 overs on 103-4 (Mark Oatley 25 not out).
In Division 2 at Ryde Sports Centre, leaders Ryde Caval-iers IV were restricted to a modest 109 all out (Pete Dickenson 33) against White-croft, who never looked like capitalising on the opportunity and were bowled out for just 57.
Northwood carried on their title challenge with a comfortable win, passing Godshill’s 85-4 without loss (Gavin Paddock 28 not out).
Ryde Cavaliers III kept up their challenge, 137-3 (Andy Louden 26 not out, Richard Turner 28, D. Cooper 25 not out) enough to comfortably overcome IW Health Associates, who were bowled out for 101 (Andy Louden 3-16).
In the only close match of the evening, the IW Prison Officers narrowly edged out Cowes Centurions by just two runs in a low scoring affair.
The Prison Officers struggled with the bat and were bowled out for just 98, only a solo effort from A. Wilson (53) and 34 extras sparing them from a very low total.
A disciplined bowling and fielding display from the Prison Officers made runs hard to come by, three run outs leaving the Centurions agonisingly short.
