Ventnor charge starts in style

VENTNOR cruised into the second round of Southern Electric Premier League Twenty20 Cup on Sunday.

They defeated Sparsholt with almost nine overs remaining, thanks to a blazing unbeaten 62 from Marc-Anthony Eysele.

Sparsholt had opened the batting and were restricted to just 114-8, Tom Friend taking 3-32, Mark Holmes 2-19 and Adam Wilson 2-24.

Ventnor wasted no time in reaching the target and still had nine wickets in hand by the time they reached it.

Eysele, who hit seven fours and four sixes at Steephill, was supported by Friend, who hit 34.
