Warriors edge past Hunters

WATSON Warriors’ continue to lead the Harwoods Renault Over-45s Indoor Cricket League but only after a shaky win over Hunters.

Batting first, they posted 105-4 with only Jimmy Winter (24) troubling the scoring, Hunters, in reply, crumbed to 59 all out with Greg Sparrow bowling a fantastic spell, taking three wickets for six runs.

Fighting Cocks had no batting issues with Mark Ringer (41 not out), Trevor Mew (37) and Ray Winter (25 not out) all contributing to the total of 149-4.

Simon Wratten (32), led Hurricanes’ reply, but it fell well short on 109-5, Malc Gibson (3-18) and Mark Ringer (2-22) taking the wickets.

Lord Gaveston batted first in the last match and scored 131-4, Tony Cook (37) and Trevor Spence (35 not out) the mainstays.

In reply, Bandits faltered badly at 107-5, before Paul Biddlecombe carried home the team with an unbeaten 63 to make 134-5.
