WIGHTLINK Ryde became the fourth winners of the IW County Press Corporate T20 competition, beating last year’s champions Npower by 20 runs.
Batting first, Wightlink Ryde were all out for 135 off the last ball of their 20 overs, after some tight bowling and excellent fielding by Npower.
Gareth Bricknell took 5-28 off four overs for Npower, dismissing Cameron Mitchell, who top scored for Wightlink Ryde with 29.
Npower might have thought they had a good chance of retaining the trophy, especially when Bricknell demonstrated his all-round skills, becoming the backbone of the run chase and top scoring with 35.
However, with eight batsmen failing to reach double figures, Npower were always lagging behind the run rate and eventually posted just 105 all out.
The IW County Press Trophy was presented to Wightlink Ryde captain, Lawrence Tolfrey, at the conclusion of an entertaining and well-supported day of competitive cricket.
In the earlier semi finals, Npower beat IW Health Associates by 86 runs and Wightlink Ryde defeated Lighthouse Medical by 41 runs.
