NEWPORT Roman Villa is throwing open its doors for free next week, as part of national Heritage Open Days celebrations across the country.
It will join more than 5,000 other historic properties in the UK opening free of charge in September.
The event takes place on Saturday, September 9, from 11am to 3pm.
In Cypress Road, a short walk from Newport town centre, it is a fascinating site hidden in a residential area.
It has a Roman garden and museum display, as well as an activity room. Visitors can complete a picture hunt and help make a giant collage of a Roman farm.
The site is only partially accessible to wheelchair users.
The open day is organised by the IW Council heritage service. For more information, contact museums@iow.gov.uk, call 823433, visit www.iwight.com/museums or call the villa on 529720.
