A BIG 'Kite Picnic' to raise funds for Golden Hill Fort Country Park, Freshwater, is being held in the park.

The event, on Sunday, May 27, from 12noon, is being organised by Gift to Nature and children will be given the opportunity to make their own kites with the help of Shademakers Carnival Co at one of its on-site workshops.

It is the chance for people to come together over food and drink and there will storytelling, face painting and refreshments throughout the day.

The picnic is part of a Gift to Nature double header at the park with The Butterfly Ball being held there between 4pm and 10pm the previous day.

The headline act for the event is Tensheds, a classical trained rock pianist.

He will be supported by local musicians The Moonshiners, The Herd, Company B, Second Time Around and Between the Boots and Me.

Visit The Butterfly Ball website for ticket information.
