THE BEST summer since the legendary one of 1976 brought out the crowds at Godshill's village fete on Saturday (July 14).

Hundreds of residents and visitors turned-up to the event which was held at Central Mead and opened by the Island's High Sheriff, Gioia Minghella.

The official mascot for IW Day, Nipper the Crab, also put in an appearance.

There were around 60 stalls selling local produce and crafts as well as a number of activities including singing, a dog show and an agility dog show.

The fete was held to raise funds for Godshill Village Hall and IW based charity, KissyPuppy. A total of £1,900 was raised which will be split equally between the two organisations.
