A SERIES of outdoor screenings of popular films has been planned for the Island this summer.

The Extraordinary Travelling Film Show returns to the IW for a season of outdoor screenings at a range of venues including Carisbrooke Castle, Tapnell Farm and Mottistone Gardens.

The first is La La Land, which will be screened at Mottistone Gardens on Saturday, July 28.

With free entry into the National Trust’s attraction, you'll be able enjoy the beautiful gardens as the sun sets. The film, which is about jazz, love, and Los Angeles, starts at 9pm. Gates open 7.30pm.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri will be shown as part of Ventnor International Fringe Festival, in Ventnor Park, at 9pm on Sunday, August 12.

The film is both black comedy and searing drama featuring Oscar-winning performances from Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell.

Enjoy The Hangover at The Mermaid Inn (at the Wishing Well in Pondwell), home of the IW Distillery.

You will be encouraged to sample the gins made at the distillery before watching the film. Doors open at 7pm and the film starts at 8.30pm, on Thursday, August 16.

At Mottistone Gardens on Saturday, August 18, you can watch Made in Dagenham.

The film tells the true story of the fight for women’s rights at the Dagenham Ford factory in the 1960s. Admission to the garden is at 7pm, with the film starting at 8.30pm.

The Greatest Showman is being shown at Ventnor Botanic Gardens on Sunday, August 19.

See the film under the stars and sing along at this popular musical. You can arrive from 7pm — the film starts at 8.30pm.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be played at Carisbrooke Castle on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 26.

The First Order have taken control of the castle. Join the Rebel Force, storm the castle and meet a few extra special guests, for a truly immersive experience. Open from 7pm, film from 8pm.

See Peter Rabbit in the perfect farmyard setting — Tapnell Farm — on Thursday, August 30.

Doors open at 6:30pm and the live action version of the classic tale begins at 8pm.

At all the screenings you can take a picnic or purchase the food on offer. There will also be a bar.
