THE ISLAND’S Bus and Coach Museum at the former bus depot in Park Road, Ryde, has been awarded a certificate of excellence by TripAdvisor.
Users of the online rating system have praised the friendly welcome given on arrival by museum volunteers, who adopt a Meet and Greet policy with all visitors, as well as the interesting vehicles on display and the building’s conference room. It is adapted to occupy younger children.
Jig-saws, model road circuits and drawing facilities provide activities for children after they have boarded many of the vintage buses in the display.
Free entry, with a donation welcomed on departure, is an added feature praised by visitors.
Trustee Richard Newman, said: “We are thrilled to receive this accolade. It is our third season at Ryde following the move from Newport Quay and we have welcomed increasing numbers of both tourists and Island people expressing interest and pleasure in seeing the collection.”
The museum opens on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, plus a few other days until the end of October.
The popular beer and buses event, to be attended by 100 buses this year, will take place next weekend.
