Harrow 249-7

Lensbury 126-7

Dave Walker hit his second hundred in consecutive matches as Harrow had to settle for a Thames Valley League Division Two draw at Lensbury on Saturday.

Harrow, beginning to show their true potential, made Lensbury work hard and looked like winning for most of the game, reports John Scott.

Harrow batted first and after a slow start Walker's century and Vijey Nathan's usual quick-fire innings -- he scored 24 -- moved things along more briskly.

Skipper Alister Phillips knocked up his first half century of the season reaching 54 before being run out and with wicketkeeper Mike Kirman making 20 Harrow finished on 249-7.

Harrow made early inroads into the usually strong Lensbury batting. Another fine performance by Vijey Nathan (2-34 runs) helped along by Walker (2-14) and Nauman Saqeb (2-36) saw the home side reduced to 95-5 at one stage. But their rearguard held firm to finish on 126-7 to earn a draw.

Harrow looked better than of late, and with a slightly stronger side may have just made the breakthrough they need to start building for the title chase.

They will meet Ealing in the second round of the Abbot Ale National Knockout Cup at the weekend after disposing of Lambeth Enterprise on Sunday.

Enterprise started steadily, but Dave Walker (4-34 ), Keith Scott (1-13), Russell Dawson (1-28) and Ricky Hoyt (1-31) tightened up the flow of runs and restricted the visitors to 181 from their 45 overs.

Harrow started in determined style, but the loss of early wickets saw them at 65-4 before Aaron Taylor (36) and Mac Johnson (36) put on 103 for the fifth wicket.

The unnecessary loss of late wickets made the final overs an uphill struggle for Harrow, but Keith Scott hit two boundaries in the only two balls he faced to finish on eight not out and help the local side through to the next round on 184-9.
