WIGHT Diamonds Marching Band came together for their annual awards evening to celebrate their 17th successful season.
The band’s chairman Ilona Rayner opened the evening and, alongside bandmaster Andy White and drum major Roy Jackson, presented awards to the band’s woodwind, brass and percussion sections.
The Gilbert Marshall Diamond Award, voted for by all band members, was awarded to Les Rayner for his work in organising transport and producing the band’s new leg lights that were first used at last year’s carnival season.
The Gerry Ashman Memorial Award for pride on parade and drill and deportment was presented to side-drummer Liam Downer, 11.
Awards were also given for the most improved woodwind, brass and percussion players, which went to Hollie Mildenhall, 16, Ali Hallam, 13, and Simon King.
Toby Sheard, 17, Victor Saunders, nine, Lillie Milden-hall, 16, and Liam Downer were also presented with awards for woodwind, brass and percussion players of the year.
