The Beavers finished in their highest position of the season - 13th - and achieved their first league double of the season.

The pitch played a part in Enfield's opener after five minutes. Danny Smith's back pass to Hampton keeper James Courtnage took several bounces and changes of direction before skipping over Courtnage's foot as he attempted a clearance. The ball ran on and Enfield's James Bunn had the simple job of walking it into an unguarded net.

The Beavers were quickly level, though. A blatant shove in the back was spotted by referee Graham Monk just two minutes later and skipper Jason Shaw equalised from the penalty spot.

Hampton took the lead in the 32nd minute with a true spark of class. Awarded a free kick 20 yards out Craig Maskell placed the ball on a flat piece of ground, declined the referee's offer to move the defenders back, and sent the ball wide of Enfield's keeper, Jerome John, while the Enfield defenders were still waiting for the referee to move them back.

Hampton went 3-1 ahead in the 58th minute, following an excellent interchange of passes between Maskell and Leroy Griffiths.

The final ball from Maskell give Griffiths the opportunity to roll the ball under the keeper from six yards out.

Five minutes later,

Enfield pulled a goal back when they themselves

were awarded a penalty. Danny Jones scored from the spot.

Enfield tried to get

the equaliser to salvage something from the

game but it was Warren Williams for the Beavers who almost scored a fourth late on.

q Hampton reserves left it very late in their quest to stay in the Suburban League Premier Division, with a last-gasp 2-1 win at Gravesend.

They were indebted to Leroy Griffiths, who slammed a shot inside the frame of the goal to spark delirium among the away supporters.
