PUPILS from seven Harlow schools have turned into tree detectives after taking part in a fact-finding trip to Latton Woods.

The Wicked Walk in the Woods, organised by Nortel Networks, Harlow Study Centre and Harlow Council's parks and landscapes department, saw pupils visiting the woods last Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nortel's community relations manager Carole Banks said: 'We will be showing the children into the woodlands and helping them to become tree-wise detectives.

'It's all about learning about the woodland and finding out who lives there. The pupils fill out an activity sheet in the first half of the morning and in the second half the class chooses a particular tree to collect data about it.'

The information is then be taken back to school and entered onto the school computers and sent by e-mail to the town's website.

Schools taking part were Potter Street, Fawberts and Barnard, Harlowbury, Peterswood, Milwards, Hare Street and Pear Tree Mead.
