On behalf of the New Malden Neighbourhood committee, I would like to thank all those who took part in the consultation on parking restrictions in New Malden. The scheme would have required the support of a majority of residents to be introduced, and I can confirm that it did not receive this.
We are grateful for all the valid points raised and shortcomings highlighted. The controlled parking zone will not now be persued as proposed.
We do, however, feel that we owe it to residents to find a more appropriate solution. For this reason, we will ask the council's policy and resources committee to consider the parking needs of New Malden town centre further.
We hope the committee has demonstrated the importance in which your views are held.
