Karam Singh has been elected the first Asian captain in the 107-year history of Stanmore Golf Club.
Mr Singh joined the club in Gordon Avenue seven years ago and has been active both on and off the course.
A resident of Harrow for 17 years, he retired from his accountancy business and as a lecturer in 1995 and is now writing a series of travel books dealing with India. He is married with three children.
