Ealing's new council cabinet has been announced ,, and attacked as undemocratic by the Conservatives.
From now on, nine Labour councillors will make many vital decisions for all 71 elected councillors behind closed doors.
Opposition leader, Cllr Ian Green said: 'Concentrating too much power in too few people is always a danger.
'The Conservative Group has been determined to act constructively to encourage better and speedier decisions. But we will not compromise on issues of transparency and public accountability.'
But a Labour group spokesman said that the first cabinet meeting will discuss openness with a view to bringing the public closer to the decision-making process.
Leader of the Council, Cllr John Cudmore said: 'This is an excellent team which brings together experience and new ideas.'
