A NUMBER of candidates are lining up to be shortlisted by Labour for the Tottenham by-election.
Among the favourites for the Labour nomination is Greater London Assembly candidate David Lammy.
Mr Lammy, 27, is a barrister and self-confessed 'Tottenham boy made good'.
He is tipped as a high flyer and is the youngest candidate on the Labour slate for next month's elections.
Bernie Grant's widow, Sharon is also rumoured to be considering standing, although an announcement is not expected until after the funeral.
The Tottenham constituency is considered a Labour safe seat and an attractive prospect for Labour candidates.
Mr Grant was returned in 1997 with a majority of 20,200.
The by-election is expected to take place in June or July.
