A group of five white men in their 20s approached the victim in his patrol car at 1.30am on April 24 and asked for a lift.
When he refused, saying he was on duty, the gang shouted racial abuse at him and smashed the rear window of the Suzuki jeep, leaving him with an injured hand.
The men then wandered off towards Thames Ditton along the Portsmouth Road.
