ONE of the Island's best-loved bands has re-united and released their first new material in almost ten years.
The current Kody line-up got together 13 years ago, playing their first show at the Royal Squadron in Ryde - now Coburgs.
But after years of touring the UK, US and Europe and various management deals along the way, the band called it quits in 2008.
Frontman Gareth Icke said: "To be honest, it stopped being fun. I think we all lost sight of why we started playing in the first place. It all became tiresome and felt more like a job. We had London management, which told us how to dress, to cut our hair a certain way, etc.
"It was all quite sad really and a million miles from the 'who cares what they think' attitude we formed the band with," said Gareth, who is joined in the band by Tim Pritchard, Turlough Ducie and Steve Richmond.
But the close friends stayed in touch and
when Gareth, who now lives on the mainland, married last year, talk turned to getting back in the studio.
"We agreed to get a couple of new tracks done and see where it went. Turlough and Tim are still down south, with me in Derby and Steve in Leeds. All the leg work was done online and then we met up on the Island and put the tracks down at Studio 5a, in Cowes.
"We are really happy with how they came out and we are still sending new ideas to each other all the time. Hopefully we'll get a few shows booked.
"It feels like it did at the beginning. Fun again, without any outside influence telling Turlough he can't wear abnormally tight shorts on stage."
