Windsor and Eton 1 - Tooting and Mitcham 0

They hit the bar twice, the post three times and had countless efforts cleared off the line but it was always going to be one of those nights for Tooting and Mitcham on Tuesday.

Windsor and Eton played their part in a highly entertaining match but shaded it with a breakaway goal on the stroke of half-time. General manager John Langford will be hoping for better luck when he takes his Sandy Lane side to Leighton tomorrow (Saturday).

The return of Gary Bowyer and Robbie Babb will at least add extra weight in midfield.

Tuesday's defeat was disappointing following their convincing 3-0 win against Edgware Town last Saturday.

Centre forward Jimmy Bolton scored a wonder goal to wrap up victory with 10 minutes to go. He spotted Edgware's keeper off his line before delivering an inch-perfect David Beckham-style chip to score his side's third goal from the half-way line. Striking partner Barry Ferdinand put Tooting ahead on 16 minutes and grabbed another with half-an-hour remaining.

But Langford was in do doubt he had seen the goal of the season from Bolton. He told The News: "It was a fantastic strike and one which I doubt I will ever see repeated."

Goalkeeper Dave Morgan came in for the suspended Haakan Jensgard and won man-of-the match.
