DID you hear the one about the comedian aiming to support mental health charities with a show on the Island and by 3,000-mile row across the Atlantic Ocean?
Well, that’s exactly what you’ll get with funnyman Rob Coleman.
The Leicestershire-based star be performing a stand-up routine at a fundraising comedy night hosted by The Balcony, Ryde, next Saturday, May 20.
The show will be in aid of mental health charities Heads Together, Mind and Combat Stress — causes close to Rob’s heart.
As part of Rob’s fundraising efforts, fellow comedians Nik Coppin, Chris Norton Walker and Lucy Thompson will also be on the bill.
“I always love gigging on the IW,” he said.
“When the promoter kindly offered us a venue in Ryde for free, it seemed too good an opportunity to turn down.”
Aligned to his Island fundraiser, Rob and three others will raise money for the same causes with his extraordinary winter challenge.
In December, Rob will be attempting to row The Atlantic as part of a mixed, four-person crew. The team will leave from The Canaries and aim to arrive in Antigua some 3,000 miles and nine weeks later.
“Mental health is a hugely under-resourced and under-discussed issue in the UK, so hopefully this challenge will help make a difference,” added Rob.
Show starts at 8pm.
