No doubt there will be those that played in the Area Two side, and those that witnessed the game, that due to the score and individual rink scores wonder how much more has to be done to make the Middleton cup team more even on the "benches".

Five shots difference in the match, three winning rinks, one Area Two rink consisting of three U25s, two of whom are u/badged, turned in a good victory over a rink of what one might call a star studded side, including two playing on their own green!

Southy BC were engaged in two double four games and AL & SC Shield Match.

Both 'A' and 'B' were in play with the 'B' pulling off a great win over Mid-Surrey 'A' team. Wynne Richards (Mid Surrey) scoring only 12 shots and only winning five ends, plus the fact his rink failed to score for five consecutive ends! However with Paul Reeves turned the tide and won by 12 shots causing an extra end to be played, between A White of Southy and Paul Reeves mid-Surrey, this resulted in a one-shot victory in Southey's favour.

Southey's A team suffered defeat at the hands of Raynes Park 28/39.

Paul Coleman

Cheam Village bowlers Paul Coleman and Chris Young take part in the EBA international trials at Lount Bowling Club in Leicestershire this weekend.

Coleman takes part in the junior trials while Young is competing in the seniors for the first time.

Paul started getting interested in bowls through his father playing at the Raynes Park Club, with him he won the handicap pairs, club junior championship, finalist in club singles, also doing well in area top four, and not yet At the age of 16 he moved to West Wimbledon club and continued to have success as part of winning pairs (handicap). 1998 was the year he won his county badge winning the unbadged singles with an entry of 977 competitors, and was elected as a reserve for the Middleton cup team.
