A BISHOP'S Stortford woman has been selected for the British Young Rider International Squad.

Emma Rust, 21, will now qualify as a potential contender for the Junior and Young Rider European Championship teams for 2001.

Emma was a consistent winner on ponies when she was younger and after moving on to horses was selected for the Junior European Championship Team in 1997.

Her ambition is to be further selected for the Young Riders European Championships, which are to be held in Gijon, Spain, in July this year.

A series of trials are taking place throughout the country to aid the selection process, with members of the British Show Jumping Association International Affairs Committee in attendance.

Emma said: "It's great news that I'm on the squad. I hope I will be selected for the Young Riders European Championship Team this year, but it all depends how the trials go.

"It's a great privilege to be selected to represent your country and I'm going to do my best to achieve this."
