MUSIC YOUNG Island singer-songwriter Jazzy Heath will appear on IW Radio this weekend.
The 16-year-old Platform One student will be interviewed by Glyn Taylor on his Live and Local show, which will air between 8pm and 9pm on Sunday.
Glyn will also feature three tracks from Jazzy’s latest album, Chase Your Dreams — something she says she is trying to do herself and inspire others to do. Jazmine, known as Jazzy, is a former member of the choir Resonate — winners of BBC Comic Relief Does Glee Club — and has sung at the IW Festival and Bestival with Fat Boy Slim.
Jazzy wrote her first song, The Hummingbird, aged just six and has now written more than 40.
As well as singing, the teenager plays keyboard, piano, ukulele and guitar.
Mum Sally Heath said the first time they were aware of Jazzy’s singing ability was when they lived in Gloucester and she sang a Christmas carol down the phone to the local radio station, which won her a prize and became part of the station’s festive jingle.
Jazzy, who was also recently invited to Queensgate Primary School to give an inspirational talk to youngsters, is busy recording her third album, playing with her band Yindigo and singing in Michelle Brocks’ youth choir at the IW Music Centre.
