Sam Sheasby, who is making a name for himself.
MUSIC AN ASPIRING singer and actor is aiming to earn a scholarship at a performing arts school in London this autumn. Sam Sheasby, 17, of Fishbourne, who has been playing the guitar since he was six, is making a name for himself with his singing on the Island.Sam, who is studying for a diploma in performing arts and dance at Sandown Bay Academy, said: “Eventually I hope to be involved in film, television and musical theatre.”In the meantime, Sam, who also attends the Gillian Cartwright School of Dancing, Shanklin, has been playing in venues in Yarmouth, Newport and Cowes, and has a charity date in aid of Freshwater Independent Lifeboats at Fort Redoubt, Freshwater Bay, on May 20.He said: “My parents both played the guitar but I was basically self-taught. I have been singing and dancing since I was 12 and specialise in ballet, modern and tap dancing.“I play the acoustic guitar and have started writing my own songs as well as doing a lot of covers, ranging from Johnny Cash to Oasis. I’m trying to save money for my studies and have had a lot of bookings for weddings as well as pubs and bars.“I’m hoping to audition for a performing arts school in London later in the year.
