Two new keepers have joined high-flying Kingstonian this week. And striking sensation Gavin Holligan has been told he's going nowhere.

Barrow's Steve Farrelly, absent for Ks 5-1 demolition of the northerners, has switched clubs after six months. The 33 year old, who has been out of the line-up this season while recovering from appendicitis, will train with third division Rochdale on a full-time basis.

Spurs keeper Simon Brown has returned to White Hart Lane after a one-month loan. But former Millwall and Watford shot stopper Andrew Iga, 20, has joined Ks, as cover, on a free.

With one end of the side seemingly sorted, Geoff Chapple was in no mood to let the other go to pot. And when an undisclosed First Division club offered Gavin Holligan a reserve game trial, they were quickly sent packing.

The 18 year old, whose performances also prompted Spurs representatives to watch him twice, has made an impressive start to the season, mainly as super-sub.

Meanwhile Bristol Rovers old boy Steve Parmenter, a midfielder, is to try out for Ks.

As Chapple strengthens his squad he is warning players to watch their tackles and tempers, or risk losing their places.

He was disappointed with Saturday's booking of midfielder Geoff Pitcher, who will now miss the game against Welling through suspension. He said: "If players are going to get suspended now they might find it hard to get back in the side.

"I've got three or four people knocking on my door asking why they are not in the side when results haven't been good, which they've got every right to do. And they might just get their chance."

But the boss was pleased with the side's performance on Saturday, as they inflicted the first home defeat of the season on hosts Kidderminster Harriers.

A first half goal from David Leworthy did the damage, ending a barren spell for the veteran striker.

"I was delighted for him," said Chapple of the 35 year old. "Goals have been hard to come by for him this year, and we've talked long and hard about why that is. But he's a proven goalscorer."

The disciplined defensive performance pleased Chapple so much he said it was the most professional since he's been at the club. The 4-2 loss at Farnborough days earlier was the worst.

"We're still a Jekyll and Hyde outfit at the moment," he admitted.

"But fourth position at this stage of the season was beyond my wildest expectations."

Ks face Maidenhead, away, on Saturday in the FA Cup third qualifying round. Getting to the first round proper could mean some decent money. But Chapple knows the Ryman Division 1 outfit will be treating this as their cup final.

"It's a potential banana skin, and we've got to look not to get beat. We will have to give it 100 per cent."
