A SCHOOLBOY was assaulted by three yobs who attacked him as he cycled home from school.

Police have only just released details of the attack, which happened on Wednesday, September 24, and are now appealing for witnesses.

The 14-year-old victim, from St Mark's School, was cycling in the Potter Street area, next to Pytt Field at about 3.50pm when he was approached and punched by the three teenagers.

Two of his attackers were in their mid-to- late teens and the third was in his early teens.

One of the attackers was wearing a yellow Arsenal football shirt with the name Wilkes written on the back.

This is of particular interest to the police, as there has not been an Arsenal player called Wilkes in the last 25 years.

He is described as white, slim, with dark brown collar-length hair. He is 5ft 8ins tall and about 17 years old.

The victim was left bruised, with a swollen right eye.

A Harlow police spokesman said: "This was an unprovoked assault and we are now appealing for witnesses, especially anyone who was in the Potter Street or Church Langley area at about that time."

Anyone with information should ring PC Tony Dyson at Harlow police station on 641212.
