March 19, 2001 15:04: MAYOR Ken Livingstone is to be quizzed on the state of the capital next week at a people's question time event.

Bromley residents are invited to attend and ask questions relating to the management of the borough.

Issues such as policing, traffic congestion, house prices and pollution will all be up for discussion.

Explaining the thinking behind the event, Mr Livingstone said: "Since the Greater London Authority was established nine months ago, we've all been working hard to put in place the foundations which will make London an even better place to live and work.

"But, we can't do this on our own, and events such as people's question time are vital in helping us identify and address those issues which really matter."

The mayor and the London Assembly are holding the debate as part of an ongoing discussion on the issues that affect people that live or work in London.

London Assembly chairman Trevor Phillips said: "People's question time provides us with a valuable opportunity to find out how we are doing and what we should be focusing on in the future."

The meeting will be held at The Farfield Halls, Croydon.
