Bobby and Nicola Console-Verma's son Joshua was born at the hospital on October 12 last year and the proud father wrote to chief executive John Langan: "Joshua is our little bundle of joy. Just before he was born I attended a Christmas ball during which I was lucky enough to win first prize in a raffle draw.
"Having received excellent care at your hospital's maternity unit I would like to donate £2,000 of the prize money to the unit."
The money will be used to buy two computers with a cd-rom training package to help midwives update their interpretative skills.
