Underspending by Brent and Harrow Health Authority has left £2 million available for a one-off investment in healthcare services.
If the money is not spent, the authority will not receive it in next year's budget allocation, and so three broad areas have been earmarked for using it.
The backlog of maintenance at ambulatory, day and community-based care centres will be reviewed with a view to future use of the facilities, and the development of new staff roles such as minor injuries units managed by nurse practitioners.
It is likely some money will also go towards setting up an IT-based communications network to help the work of the new primary care groups.
