Around 130 Youngsters aged between 18 months and two years and nine months meet at five homes in Borehamwood, Radlett and Edgware.

Organiser Michelle Levene said the money would go towards the Joely Bear Appeal's campaign to set up a play area at Barnet General's Treasure Island ward.

Mrs Levene said she wanted to thank all the children who took part -- and that one family raised £400 on its own.

"We now take children who are quite a lot younger. We wanted to do something they could all take part in," she said.

The Joely Bear Appeal aims to make childrens' stay in hospital less stressful, promote research into paediatric cancer and encourage donation of blood.

This year's major fund-raising event, the sponsored cycle ride, takes place on June 13.

Mrs Levene said she would like to see other nursery groups in the Elstree, Borehamwood and Radlett areas organise similar events in support of the Joely Bear Appeal.

Parents who would like more information about Jolly Tots can alse telephone the organiser on 0181 953 4111.
