Peter triumphs over wobbly flight landing

Peter Pan has flown in to cast a magic spell this Christmas.
The big production at The Mayflower, Southampton, features a host of household names, including comic and TV presenter Les Dennis, ex-EastEnder Lucy Benjamin and emerging musical star, Daniel Boys, as Peter Pan.
It is a show to delight and enchant the very young and is a perfect escape for the whole of the family.
It has a strong cast and Les Dennis was particularly impressive as Smee, raising a lot of laughs with his banter with the audience.
Ben Richards was a superb Captain Hook and Mr Darling. His Captain Hook was modelled on Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow and so similar did they look, he might have been mistaken for the Depp lookalike, who visited the Island several times in summer.
Everything looked magical, the sets, the costumes and, most of all, the special effects.
For Peter Pan, though, the opening night will be memorable for all the wrong reasons.
He was flying across the stage and a badly timed landing meant he got a little closer to a couple of the audience than was intended.
The only thing that was hurt was Peter’s pride and the audience members he got up close and personal with seemed delighted with the interval ice creams from the management.
Peter Pan can be seen at The Mayflower until January 14.
