NOW children, don't forget Mother's Day on Sunday. There is a sale of cakes and Mother's Day flowers on the Village Green on Saturday organised by Chalfont St Giles Infant School and Nursery PTA. The sale starts at 9am and goes on until sold out. All proceeds go to the school.

THE March meeting of the Chalfont St Giles Gardens Association is on Thursday next, March 14, when Wilf Halliday will be giving a Pictorial Guide to Wisley Garden. Mr Halliday was the in-house photographer for Wisley until his retirement, so there should be a beautiful slide show. The meeting starts at 8pm in the Memorial Hall on School Lane. If you are not a member and would like to join the association, please contact the Membership Secretary, Heidi Nolan, on 01494 874830.

THE March meeting of the Chiltern Fuchsia Society is on Thursday, March 21, when the speaker will be Dr Peter Brandham, whose subject will be A Year at Kew. The meeting is in the Garden Centre on School Lane at 8pm. Non-members and prospective members are, of course, very welcome.

CHALFONT St Giles Infant School and Nursery PTA are presenting a Fashion Spectacular of leading High Street brands on Wednesday, March 20, in the Memorial Hall, School Lane. There is up to 50 per cent off retail prices. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets and information can be obtained from 01494 874534.

WITH Easter being early this year, it's not so far off now, so, looking ahead a couple of weeks, Chalfont St Giles Afternoon WI are presenting Teatime Treasures with Easter in Mind, on Saturday, March 23, from 10am to 11.30am, in the Reading Room.

ALSO on Saturday, March 23, Soroptimist International, High Wycombe and District, are arranging a charity quiz in aid of the Nurse Bott Fund. The quiz is in the Memorial Hall and starts at 7pm for 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50 each, including supper (bring your own bottle and glasses), and are obtainable from Kathleen Martin on 01494 870704.

THE Chalfont St Giles video which I mentioned around Christmas time has apparently been a sell-out. There was so much demand that there has been a reprint, so it's still possible to obtain a copy.

This video really is a snip at only £3.50 and does make a lovely gift. It shows the village at its very best on a wonderful brilliantly sunny summer's day. There are also copies suitable for showing on American TVs at a cost of £5 each. The videos are available from Fred Nolan on 01494 874830, Rena Hume on 01494 872745, and Merida Saunders on 01494 872928. Proceeds will be given to local charities.
