THERE should be quite a hullabaloo in Sandown this summer as businesses and organisations join forces with an arts company to provide a day of family fun and discovery.
Shademakers UK Carnival Club has organised the one-day community event, Hullabaloo, on Saturday, May 6.
The company will be working with other businesses and groups, which include Dinosaur Isle, Brown’s Family Golf, Quay Arts, the IW Zoo and Sandown Town Council.
Planned to become an annual event, Hullabaloo will combine the arts, health and well-being, heritage, environmental issues and much more.
Sandy Ciccognani, of Shademakers UK, said: "Sandown Bay is an amazing place, packed with things to explore and discover and a wealth of history, wildlife and adventure.
"This event will be a way to encourage locals and tourists to discover what an amazing place it is.
"We want people of all ages to take an active part in activities and experience inspiring sights and sounds and elements of the unexpected.
"As an arts organisation, we’re keen to promote the arts and bring them to new audiences.
"We are also passionate about our community and want to promote healthy living, strong neighbourhood ties and an appreciation of our environment, as well as giving others a platform for promoting their work."
Hullabaloo will include the Flying Lunch Kite Festival, the Shademakers’ carnival ship live music stage, which featured at Bestival and Camp Bestival last year, and a soap box challenge.
