Briquettes tidy up wooden waste

Friday, November 19, 2010 - 14:59

IT'S official: Wight Heat wood briquettes are even better for the environment.
One of Wight Heat’s suppliers, Period and Modern Joinery, has been accredited with the Forest Stewardship Council’s accreditation, which means the source material is even more environmentally sustainable.
Wight Heat wood briquettes are made using clean waste wood, sawdust and offcuts. These are pressed into briquettes and burnt on wood and multi-fuel burners, open fires, Agas and Rayburns. A number of Island companies and wood workers send their clean wood waste to Wight Heat to make briquettes rather than sending their wood shavings and sawdust to landfill. The FSC accreditation shows the company is serious about its commitment to sustainable forestry and timber within the construction industry and ensures that all processes and procedures are responsibly undertaken.
The timber can be tracked from a tree in the forest, through the finished product and to any wood waste. As the waste, from offcuts to sanding dust, is then processed by Wight Heat, nothing is wasted. So, with Period and Modern Joinery’s FSC accreditation, using Wight Heat’s wood briquettes means you are also caring for wood, forests and the future.
