MORE entries for a contest to find Britain’s Greenest Home have come from the Island than any other area.

The competition, launched last month by solar panel firm HomeSun and Finda Property.com, has attracted hundreds of entries from throughout the UK.

HomeSun chief executive Daniel Green said: "We are delighted to have seen such a great response from the people of IW. It is clear the Island has some of the most environmentally aware homeowners in the country.

Semi-retired BBC weatherman Michael Fish is helping HomeSun to promote the benefits of solar energy.

"I hope this competition encourages more people to take steps, like putting in loft insulation, fitting draught excluders and putting in solar systems, especially now they are free," he said.

The competition winner receives £3,000, with the runner-up getting £1,000.
