A UNIQUE, environmentally friendly, recycling service has been launched by Agri-cycle for the shooting industry on the Island.

Agri-cycle has designed the service to recycle used cartridge cases by 100 per cent, which will help save the environment and provide a new product for the recycling industry.

The service is targeted at heavy users of shotgun cartridges, such as clay pigeon schools and farmers, but smaller users will also benefit.

Users are supplied with 200 -litre bags, which can hold up to 4,000 cases, or larger bags, which can hold up to 21,000 cases, which can be collected as part of the pick-up service or delivered by the user to a central hub.

The waste will be transported by returning loads using locally based transport companies to ensure a minimum impact on the environment.

IW Agri-cycle local hub spokewoman Susan Symes said: “Many shotgun users have expressed concern about the environmental hazards of burning or dumping. We can now address those concerns with this service.”
