ORPINGTON residents were handed a unique opportunity to see the latest in tap water technology when Thames Water opened its new plant last week.
People from 80 homes around the site were invited along to find out more about the improvements at North Orpington Well Station, in East Drive, St Paul's Cray.
The site, which supplies 60,000 homes and businesses across south London, was closed in 1999 to allow major improvements to take place.
But the new plant boasts a £4m ultrafiltration membrane plant which is designed to remove tiny impurities.
Thames Water's project manager Neil Parker said: "Residents were given the opportunity to see the very latest in water treatment technology.
"The plant is the most advanced in the whole of our region."
