Quay Arts presents eclectic world of music

THERE will be something to cater for all musical tastes at Newport’s Quay Arts throughout February and March.
For those who love their live music, Danish combo Basco, which boasts a style that combines jazz, folk and classical, will be performing on Tuesday, while the Ric Harris Trio will provide the Jamaican music while Caribbean cuisine is served, on Friday, March 16. 
Scottish four-piece, Tannara, entertain over the weekend of March 17 and 18. 
You will have to wait until the end of next month to see the debut show of the newly formed IW Youth Jazz Orchestra.
A showcase of young Island talent, they will be performing on Friday, March 30.
A new work, inspired by the Victorian photographs by Julia Margaret Cameron, will be performed by accordionist Karen Tweed the following evening, Saturday, March 31.
Karen’s show, Another View, Dear Julia, was written, composed and arranged by her. 
The popular Sunday morning recitals programme continues at 10.30am, with the Nick Page Trio on stage on Sunday, followed by The Wight Flutes (February 25), Irish folk outfit Last Orders (March 4), harpist Merlynna Johnson (March 11) and Sounds About Wight (March 25).
Two free monthly events which showcase top local talent, Jazz Jam, is on Monday while the ever-popular Acoustic Originals will be held on Monday, February 26. 
Leading Island folk musicians, covering all shades of the folk genre, entertain in Folk at the Quay, or why not sit in on the Irish Session, both held on Sunday, February 18.
Everyone is welcome to pick up an instrument during the monthly Piano Blues and Boogie Jam, at 7.30pm on Sunday, or why not enjoy some banging tunes with Rob Da Bank’s Music Club, on Wednesday.
Go along and dance or just tap your feet to the irresistible Latin sounds of eight-piece combo, Toca Bonito, next Friday, February 16.
