Romanian pianist returns

WEST Wight Arts Association will welcome back the internationally acclaimed Romanian pianist Alexandra Dariescu for the first recital of 2018, at Freshwater Memorial Hall on January 13.
 A former graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Alexandra was appointed an honorary associate artist of the Royal Northern College of Music in 2016.
 The premiere of her own production, The Nutcracker and I, by Alexandra Dariescu  — a ground-breaking multimedia performance created for piano solo with dance and digital animation — has just taken place at Barbican’s Milton Court, and will be followed by a tour to several countries.
 At Freshwater, she will play Beethoven’s Piano Sonata no 7 in D major, Faure’s 9 Preludes op. 103 and Messiaen’s 8 Preludes of 1928-9, early works which resemble Debussy.
