January 19, 2001 16:15: STAFF and pupils at Cudham Church of England Primary School stepped back in time when they celebrated the schools 150th birthday on Friday, January 12.

Everyone donned full Victorian costume to mark the anniversary.

The Bishop of Tonbridge was guest of honour at a special church service. He joined the children in a procession to the church, where pupils read from the Bible and sang hymns. They gave a talk about school life in 1851, compared with today.

The church gave the school a cross made by local craftsman Chris Old, who made it out of old wood from the church.

Headteacher Gloria Richardson said she was "very proud" of the school.

"The children and staff enjoyed every minute," she said.
