LETTERSFrom M. Clark, Freshwater:
ISLAND pupils are trailing behind the national average (CP, January 27). Is it any wonder when the headmistress at Carisbrooke College allegedly gives pupils not wearing correct uniform detention?
My 15-year-old grandson has outgrown his blazer. If he puts it on he can’t wear his outdoor coat.
What is more important, wearing a uniform or keeping warm and dry in the winter?
What was wrong with the navy or black jersey with the school badge on the left breast that the pupils used to wear?
Wearing the correct uniform doesn’t educate — that’s the job of the teachers, or should be.
